Integrated Control And Safety Shutdown System (ICSS) for WEB and Papyrus Offshore Fields
Design, engineering, supply, integration, and commissioning of two Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS) for WEB & PAPYRUS offshore platforms. The scope of work for each platform including:
PICO WEB Offshore Fields – Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS) Implementation
PICO, a key upstream player in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, undertook a major development of its WEB and PAPYRUS offshore platforms. These normally unmanned installations required a highly reliable, integrated control and safety system (ICSS) to ensure safe production and allow for remote monitoring and control from the onshore WDDM facility.
Project Scope
- Design, supply, and integration of two independent, self-contained ICSS for the WEB and PAPYRUS offshore platforms.
- Implementation of redundant Process Control Systems (PCS) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) consolidating ESD and F&G functions using Honeywell ControlEdge HC900 platforms.
- Provision of a complete onshore control room setup at WDDM with operator workstations for remote supervision of both platforms.
- Full engineering, FAT, commissioning support, and comprehensive training.
Key Benefits
- High-availability, SIL2-certified safety systems ensuring maximum protection for personnel, environment, and assets.
- Seamless integration and remote operability from an onshore control center, optimizing offshore operations.
- A unified, robust automation platform capable of withstanding harsh offshore conditions and communication link failures.
- Enhanced diagnostic capabilities and modular design for easier maintenance and future expansion.
Outcome
This turnkey ICSS solution provided PICO with a state-of-the-art, resilient automation backbone for its offshore fields, enabling safe, efficient, and remotely managed production operations while adhering to the highest industry standards.
