Design, engineering, and supply of a complete PLC-based control system for DAF FW and DAF TR Water Treatment Stations including:
Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) initiated a major upgrade for the control systems of its DAF Fresh Water (FW) and DAF Treated Water (TR) & Cooling Tower stations. The project involved migrating from obsolete and disparate control platforms, including Siemens S5 PLCs and single-loop controllers, to a unified, state-of-the-art Siemens TIA Portal-based architecture to enhance reliability, centralize control, and ensure long-term operational excellence.
Comprehensive modernization of control systems for two separate water treatment units: DAF FW and DAF TR & Cooling Tower.
For DAF FW: Implementation of a simplex Siemens S7-1500 PLC with ET200SP I/O and a centralized PC-based operator station with WinCC Advanced SCADA.
For DAF TR: Implementation of a high-availability, redundant Siemens S7-1500H PLC system with redundant ET200SP I/O, including migration of the existing S5 PLC logic.
Replacement of annunciators with modern light boxes and integration of all single-loop controller functionality directly into the new PLCs.
Supply of extensive commissioning and 2-year spare parts, comprehensive training, and full FAT/SAT services.
Strategic migration from obsolete S5 technology and decentralized single-loop controllers to a modern, unified, and fully integrated control platform.
Significant enhancement of system availability and fault tolerance for the critical DAF TR unit through a fully redundant S7-1500H controller and I/O architecture.
Centralized monitoring and control, improved operator situational awareness, and advanced diagnostics through modern HMIs and SCADA software.
Future-proof solution with hot-swappable modules, ensuring high maintainability and minimal downtime.
This holistic modernization project, executed by MISC, empowered AMOC with a highly reliable and advanced automation infrastructure. The new systems ensure robust, efficient, and safe operation of the critical water treatment facilities, eliminating legacy system risks and providing a scalable platform for future plant requirements.
