Zohr Development project Supplying of Automation- ZOHR Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Plant
Design, installation and commissioning of SCADA & PLC- based systems for the following packages:
GLOBOIL/ ENPPI ZOHR Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Plant Automation
GLOBOIL, entrusted with the critical ZOHR field development, partnered with MISC to implement a highly reliable and fault-tolerant automation system for its Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Plant in Egypt. The project required a robust control solution to ensure the continuous and safe production of purified water, a vital utility for the offshore facility.
Project Scope
- Supply of a complete, redundant Siemens S7-400H PLC-based control system for the main desalination process.
- Engineering, manufacturing, and testing of one main PLC control panel with a 15″ HMI.
- Supply of two remote I/O panels (Ex-rated) for Intake Wells and Rejection Wells, connected via a redundant fiber-optic Profibus network.
- Supply of an Operator/Engineering Station for centralized supervision and system configuration.
- Integration with the client’s existing DCS via a redundant Modbus TCP/IP link.
Key Benefits
- Implementation of a high-availability, fault-tolerant S7-400H architecture for maximum process uptime and zero control loss.
- Enhanced operational safety in hazardous areas with Ex-rated remote panels for well monitoring.
- Distributed I/O design with redundant networking, ensuring system resilience and simplified maintenance.
- Centralized visualization and engineering access, enabling efficient plant operation and troubleshooting.
Outcome
MISC delivered a comprehensive automation solution that provided GLOBOIL with a robust and reliable control platform for the ZOHR SWRO plant. The system ensures uninterrupted water production, enhances operational safety through its redundant and distributed design, and supports the overall reliability and efficiency of the ZOHR field’s utility infrastructure.
