PETROBEL LTS Critical Loops & LTS-7 DCS Expansion at Nile Delta Fields

PETROBEL, a key operator in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, partnered with MISC for a strategic expansion of its existing LPG Distributed Control System (DCS) and Emergency Shutdown (ESD) system at the Nile Delta Fields. This project aimed to integrate new process signals from the precooling facility and LTS-7, extending the lifecycle and capabilities of the modern control system previously installed by MISC.

Project Scope

  • Expansion of the existing, proven Siemens S7-400H based DCS by adding new I/O racks (ET200M) for DCS signals.
  • Utilization of spare channels in the existing ESD system to incorporate new safety signals.
  • Supply and configuration of a new client station in the LTS control room for operator visualization.
  • Comprehensive engineering, including updated control logic, graphics, and network integration.
  • Full suite of site services including installation, commissioning, and training for PETROBEL personnel.

Key Benefits

  • Seamless and cost-effective expansion of the existing high-availability DCS/ESD infrastructure without major system overhaul.
  • Enhanced operational visibility and control for the new precooling and LTS-7 facilities from a centralized location.
  • Leveraged previous successful upgrades, ensuring system consistency and reduced integration risk.
  • Knowledge transfer through extensive classroom and on-site training, empowering PETROBEL’s internal team.

Outcome

MISC successfully delivered a tightly integrated system expansion, allowing PETROBEL to efficiently bring new process units under the umbrella of its existing, reliable automation platform. This project reinforced the long-term partnership between MISC and PETROBEL, ensuring the continued safe, efficient, and modern operation of critical gas processing assets.
