Investigation, Advice, Maintenance, Implementing Modification & Upgrading Palletizer & Filling Machines Control System & Seghers Water Treatment Station Control System

Design, installation and commissioning of PLC- Based control & HMI Systems for upgrading the existing control system to up- to- date SIEMENS S7 PLC system for the following packages:

AMOC – Palletizer, Filling & Water Treatment Automation Upgrade

AMOC (Alexandria Mineral Oils Company), a key operating company in Egypt, partnered with MISC to modernize the control systems for its critical palletizer, filling machines, and Seghers water treatment station. The existing automation platforms, based on obsolete Siemens S5 PLCs, were due for an upgrade to enhance system reliability, operational control, and long-term maintainability.

Project Scope

• Control System Upgrade for 2 Machines: Replacement of Siemens S5 PLCs with modern Siemens S7-300 controllers and 7″ KTP700 HMIs for the Palletizer and Filling Machines.
• High-Availability Upgrade for 1 Station: Replacement of the existing system with a redundant Siemens S7-400H PLC and ET200M distributed I/O, controlled via a 12″ HMI, for the Seghers Water Treatment Station.
• Comprehensive Service Package: Full software migration from S5 to S7, engineering, simulation, FAT/SAT, and extensive training for AMOC engineers.

Key Benefits

• Migration from Obsolete Platforms: Transition from legacy Siemens S5 to modern, supported, and more powerful S7-300 and high-availability S7-400H systems.
• Enhanced Operational Insight: Modern HMI screens with advanced visualization, alarms, and diagnostics for improved monitoring and control of both packaging and water treatment processes.
• Increased Process Reliability: Implementation of a fault-tolerant, redundant control system for the critical water treatment station, minimizing downtime.
• Future-Ready Foundation: Improved system scalability, maintainability, and access to advanced Siemens TIA Portal engineering tools, ensuring long-term operational support.

Outcome

This comprehensive upgrade by MISC empowered AMOC with robust, modern, and reliable automation systems, ensuring efficient and continuous operation of its key packaging and water treatment assets while securing long-term technical support and serviceability.

Technology used:

For 2 Systems: Siemens S7-300 PLCs + KTP700 Basic HMIs
For 1 System: Redundant Siemens S7-400H PLC + 12″ Basic Panel HMI
