MIDOR Gas Compressors, Filter Unit & Pump Stations Automation Upgrade
To enhance the reliability and performance of its critical process equipment, a major oil & gas client partnered with MISC to upgrade several obsolete automation systems from Siemens S5 to modern Siemens S7 platforms. The goal was to ensure long-term maintainability, improve monitoring, and integrate advanced protection systems.
Project Scope
- For Gas Compressors 04-K01 & 08-K01; Migration from Siemens S5 to S7-400H redundant PLCs, Integration with ET200M redundant I/Os, Installation of new HMI panels for operator control, Integration with Bently Nevada 3500 Vibration Monitoring System for predictive maintenance and equipment protection
- Filter Unit 08-FL-01; Upgrade from S5 to S7-400H control system
- Pump Stations 08-P-01A & 08-P-01B; Migration from S5 to S7-300 PLCs, Installation of HMI panels for local monitoring and operation.
Key Benefits
- Modernized automation systems replacing obsolete Siemens S5 controllers
- High availability and redundancy with S7-400H and ET200M platforms for critical equipment
- Improved operator visibility and control through HMIs with alarms and trending
- Enhanced reliability and safety via integration with Bently Nevada vibration monitoring for compressors
- Extended lifecycle of vital assets through standardized, future-proof Siemens technology
Outcome
By completing this multi-unit upgrade, MISC enabled the client to achieve greater operational reliability, improved monitoring, and reduced downtime across compressors, filtration, and pumping systems. These upgrades strengthened the client’s ability to maintain safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations.
