Petrobel, a leading oil and gas producer in Egypt, initiated a major upgrade of the control and safety systems for its Feiran Tanks facility. The project was executed by ENPPI, a premier EPC contractor, who selected MISC as the automation specialist to deliver a state-of-the-art Instrumentation, Control, and Safety System (ICSS). The goal was to replace legacy infrastructure with a modern, integrated solution to ensure the highest standards of operational safety, measurement accuracy, and reliability for critical hydrocarbon storage tanks.
Design, supply, and commissioning of a new, fully integrated ICSS based on the Siemens PCS7 platform.
Implementation of a redundant Distributed Control System (DCS) for process control and a Safety Instrumented System (ESD) certified to SIL3 for emergency shutdowns.
Supply and integration of a high-accuracy Tank Gauging System (TGS) based on Endress+Hauser radar, temperature, and pressure instrumentation, managed by the TankVision inventory management software.
Provision of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and comprehensive engineering, documentation, and site support services.
Enhanced Process Safety & Availability: Implementation of a SIL3-certified, redundant ESD system and a fault-tolerant DCS ensures maximum plant safety and operational uptime for Petrobel’s assets.
Precision Custody Transfer: The advanced Endress+Hauser tank gauging system delivers high-accuracy level, temperature, and density measurements, certified for custody transfer and inventory management.
Future-Ready & Scalable Platform: The Siemens PCS7 architecture provides a robust, scalable, and maintainable platform with advanced operator visualization, diagnostics, and alarm management.
Integrated Operational Insight: The TankVision software provides Petrobel’s operators with a single access point for all tank farm data, enabling precise inventory control, streamlined reporting, and seamless integration with higher-level systems.
Through this successful collaboration, ENPPI and MISC delivered a turnkey ICSS modernization that empowered Petrobel to achieve a significant technological leap in tank farm management. The project ensures the end-user’s safe, reliable, and highly efficient operations, with the accuracy and data integrity required for modern hydrocarbon storage and transfer activities.
