AMOC Nitrogen Plant Automation Migration

Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) partnered with MISC to modernize and future-proof the automation system of its Nitrogen Plant. The existing Siemens S5 controllers and operator workstations had become obsolete, creating challenges for reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

Project Scope

  • Migration from Siemens S5 to Siemens PCS 7 DCS
  • Replacement of old controllers with new PCS 7 controllers
  • Deployment of redundant ET200M I/O racks with full I/O and network redundancy
  • Supply and commissioning of modern Operator Workstations (OWS) with advanced control and monitoring capabilities

Key Benefits

  • Transition to a cutting-edge DCS platform (PCS 7), securing long-term support and scalability
  • Full system redundancy at controller, I/O, and network levels for maximum reliability and uptime
  • Improved operator control and visibility through advanced OWS with alarms, diagnostics, and trending features
  • Extended lifecycle of critical assets with modern, standardized Siemens technology
  • Enhanced plant safety, reliability, and efficiency through integrated automation and monitoring

Outcome
