PETROBEL- LTS SCADA Workstation Modernization

PETROBEL, a leading entity in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, required an urgent replacement for an obsolete and malfunctioning SCADA server at its East Delta Fields. The existing system was critical for the LTS (Leak Detection System?) operations. MISC was commissioned to supply and configure a new, high-performance SCADA workstation to restore and enhance operational monitoring and control capabilities.

Project Scope

• Supply of a New SCADA Workstation: Provision of a robust industrial computer (Fujitsu/Dell or equivalent) with an Intel i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and 500GB HDD.
• Comprehensive Software Migration & Upgrade: Full software reinstallation, backup and transfer of existing Siemens and APACS+ licenses, and significant application updates.
• Advanced Application Development: Development of new communication blocks, creation of dynamic variables, and updating of static objects for over 100 graphic displays.
• On-Site Commissioning: Deployment of a SCADA expert to the Abu Madi site to perform commissioning, startup, and ensure full system functionality.

Key Benefits

• Elimination of Obsolescence: Replacement of a failing server with a modern, reliable, and high-performance workstation, ensuring system stability.
• Enhanced System Capabilities: Introduction of new communication blocks and updated graphics provided improved data visualization and system interoperability.
• Secured Software Investment: Careful backup and transfer of existing licenses protected PETROBEL’s software assets and ensured compliance.
• Restored Operational Integrity: The project successfully revived a critical monitoring system, enabling reliable oversight of field operations and contributing to production safety and efficiency.

Outcome

MISC delivered a complete hardware and software solution that seamlessly replaced the obsolete server, modernizing PETROBEL’s LTS SCADA infrastructure. This restoration ensured continuous, reliable, and enhanced monitoring of field operations, supporting PETROBEL’s commitment to operational excellence and asset integrity.
