KAPCI, a leading company in Egypt’s paint and coatings industry, partnered with MISC to implement a new, fully automated control and monitoring solution for its pilot reactor. The project aimed to achieve precise process control, enhance operational visibility, and ensure reliable automation for production and testing.
• Design, engineering, and supply of a complete control system based on a Siemens S7-300 PLC.
• Integration of a Siemens Motor Control Center (MCC) for managing two DOL starters and one variable speed drive.
• Deployment of a centralized SCADA system on a server and a remote HMI Thin Client rated for hazardous areas.
• Provision of two custom electrical enclosures (Safe Area Panel and Ex Area Box).
• Complete Process Automation: Enabled precise control and monitoring of the pilot reactor’s parameters, including motors, temperatures, and analog loops.
• Enhanced Operational Insight: The WinCC Flexible SCADA system provided advanced visualization, trending, alarm management, and reporting capabilities.
• Robust and Safe Design: The system was housed in industrial-grade enclosures (IP55/IP66), with an Ex-zone certified HMI for safe operation in hazardous areas.
MISC delivered a turnkey, state-of-the-art control system that provided KAPCI with a reliable and scalable automation platform, ensuring efficient and controlled operation of their pilot reactor for production and R&D purposes.
