Design, installation and commissioning of three SCADA & PLC- based systems With total Input / Output capacity of 3000 I/O for the following packages:
VEOLIA entrusted MISC with the implementation of a high-availability automation solution for the essential water treatment utilities at the Cairo West Power Plant. The project required fault-tolerant control systems to guarantee the continuous and reliable operation of demineralized water production and safe chlorine handling, which are critical for the efficiency and safety of the 650 MW power generation unit.
• Design and supply of three independent, Siemens S7-400H redundant PLC systems for the Water Treatment Plant, Chlorine Gas System, and Condensate Polishing Plant (CPP).
• Implementation of a comprehensive, client/server-based SCADA architecture with dedicated operator, historian, and engineering stations for each plant.
• Supply of remote operator stations in the main water treatment control room, connected via fiber-optic links to the Chlorine and CPP systems for centralized oversight.
• Establishment of robust Profibus and Industrial Ethernet networks for seamless controller and SCADA communication.
• Integration with the plant’s main DCS via a redundant OPC UA server for unified data exchange.
• Deployment of fault-tolerant S7-400H technology across all critical utility plants, ensuring maximum process uptime and zero control loss.
• A centralized SCADA strategy with remote access, providing operational flexibility and enhanced safety, particularly for the chlorine gas system.
• Comprehensive data historization and reporting for performance optimization, compliance, and predictive maintenance.
• A scalable and secure platform designed for high-integrity control of complex water treatment and chemical processes.
MISC delivered a robust and highly reliable automation foundation for the power plant’s vital auxiliary systems. The solution empowered VEOLIA to ensure the uninterrupted, safe, and efficient operation of water treatment processes, directly contributing to the overall reliability, availability, and operational excellence of the Cairo West Power Plant.
