SORFERT existing demin plant-Control system

Design, implementation, and supply of a new automated PLC-based control system for upgrading the existing system, including:

VEOLIA SORFERT Ammonia Plant – Automation System Enhancement

VEOLIA, a global leader in optimized resource management, is committed to ensuring the operational excellence and reliability of its SORFERT ammonia and fertilizer plant in Egypt. To modernize the control infrastructure and expand monitoring capabilities, a project was initiated to enhance the plant’s automation system.

Project Scope

  • Supply and integration of a new Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500 PLC-based control panel.
  • Significant SCADA software capacity upgrade, expanding the WinCC system from 8,192 to 65,536 Power Tags.
  •  Seamless integration with the existing plant DCS and communication with SIMOCODE motor management systems via Profibus.
  • Comprehensive engineering, including control logic development, HMI screen design, and FAT.

Key Benefits

  •  Introduction of a modern, high-performance PLC platform with enhanced processing power, integrated diagnostics, and robust security.
  •  Vastly increased SCADA data point capacity, enabling more comprehensive process visualization and future expansion.
  •  Improved system interoperability and data exchange within the existing plant architecture.
  • A future-ready, scalable automation foundation that supports Veolia’s standards for operational efficiency and reliability.

Outcome

This upgrade provided Veolia’s SORFERT plant with a powerful and scalable automation backbone, ensuring enhanced control, deeper operational insights, and long-term maintainability for continuous and reliable production.
